We spoke to the designer, Lebo Mojaki about the vision of the Elizabeth Morr Spring/Summer 2024 Collection at House of Nala.

What inspired the latest Elizabeth Morr accessories collection?

This collection is inspired by the fusion of African artistry and modern aesthetics. I wanted to capture the essence of elegance and natural beauty while paying tribute to the strength and grace of African women. Each piece connects the wearer to a sense of heritage while offering a modern touch.

How do you ensure each piece is unique and timeless?

Each piece tells a story. We start with selecting materials like rare gemstones or paracord, working closely with artisans who use traditional African techniques. By blending these techniques with contemporary forms, we create accessories that reflect individuality and timeless elegance.

How do your latest designs balance sophistication with everyday wearability?

Luxury should be wearable. This collection includes pieces that transition easily from day to night. We use versatile materials like silk and leather, paired with statement stones. Whether it’s a bold necklace or delicate earrings, the goal is to empower women with accessories that enhance their style without overpowering it.

How do you ensure the highest standards of craftsmanship in each piece?

Quality is essential. From sourcing ethically mined gemstones to using the finest silks and metals, every piece is crafted with precision. We combine centuries-old techniques with modern innovations to ensure durability and a flawless finish, turning each accessory into a work of art.

How can one wear your accessories to transition from casual daywear to glamorous evening looks?

Versatility is key. For example, the ‘Boitumelo’ neckpiece has a minimalist base that works with a casual outfit, but its intricate beadwork makes it striking enough for evening wear. Similarly, our ‘Ireti’ earrings are elegant enough for daytime but can elevate an evening ensemble. Each piece is designed to blend seamlessly with various looks.

How do you stay relevant and meet the evolving needs of your customers?

We respect tradition but always look ahead. We push boundaries by experimenting with new materials and refining classic techniques. We also listen to customer feedback, ensuring we meet and exceed their expectations. Our collaborations with personalities and productions like Shaka Ilembe keep the brand fresh and relevant.

Speaking of Shaka Ilembe, how did you combine the traditional elements the show required, with your signature style?

Shaka Ilembe was an exciting project. We used traditional African materials, like teething beads and matte beads, to reflect the characters’ strength and beauty. The accessories balanced historical accuracy with our signature craftsmanship, resulting in pieces that enhanced the characters’ looks while staying true to our brand.

What makes this collection a must-have?

This collection offers a distinctive blend of modern design and cultural depth. Each piece feels personal and rare, reflecting the modern woman’s desire for style that’s both fashionable and meaningful. In a world of mass production, Elizabeth Morr stands out by celebrating individuality.

Whether you're looking for a statement necklace to elevate your evening gown or a subtle accessory to complement your daily outfit, Elizabeth Morr has something for you.
