There’s patriotism, and then there’s being inspired by the capital city of your country. That’s exactly what happened with House of FabroSanz founder and creative director, Sandi Mazibuko’s latest collection.
Making her debut at Cape Town Fashion Week, Mazibuko turned to Tshwane, South Africa’s capital city, and its iconic architecture for inspiration. The result? A brand-new print titled the Tshwane Print, an elegant ode to the Jacaranda City.
One look at the garments, and the appeal of this homage becomes undeniable.
Mazibuko delved into the story behind the collection, saying, “We’re showcasing the beauty of Africa in a different light. You’ll see if you zoom in on the print, there’s the Union Building, and there’s the Reserve Bank.”
The Tshwane Print encapsulates the vibrancy of the capital. “The capital city of South Africa, Tshwane—or Pretoria as many know it—is a place that tells its history through its architecture and vibrant people,” Mazibuko shared.
“From originally composed sounds like Amapiano to Bacardi, the constantly evolving language and street culture, to the vibrancy that lives in the townships and the inner city… It’s a melting pot displaying an array of our beautiful cultures and ethnicities.”
The intricate geometric shapes interwoven into the print reflect South Africa’s rich heritage and urban beauty, capturing a sense of national pride while exuding sophistication.
These prints infuse the spirit of Tshwane’s cultural richness into resort wear, blending traditional symbols with modern design.
The print in navy, yellow, and white, is a testament to House of FabroSanz’s commitment to merging cultural symbolism with contemporary design.
Presented as a resort and leisure line, the pieces epitomise wearable art—bringing luxury fashion to a global audience while celebrating South African identity.
Known for its distinctive approach to modern African fashion, House of FabroSanz continues to elevate the craft, proving that inspiration is everywhere—even in the architectural wonders of Tshwane.
The House of FabroSanz collection showcased at Cape Town Fashion Week is available at House of Nala Sandton City and House of Nala One&Only Cape Town.
