As the winter chill sets in, the quest for stylish and long-lasting knitwear becomes paramount. The Malondié Autumn/Winter 2024 Knitwear Collection, now available at House of Nala in Sandton City, Johannesburg, answers this need with a range of pieces that are not only fashionable but built to endure many winters.
Designed by the talented Londeka Buthelezi-Ndaba, this collection perfectly balances style, comfort, and sustainability, catering to the modern woman who values both fashion and functionality.
Her vision for this collection is evident in every piece, capturing the essence of winter fashion with versatile and statement-making garments.
“Winter is all about layering up when dressing but still making it fashion. We released our mini knitted skirts and ensured that we keep our clients warm by pairing them with 120D thick Malondié Stockings. A definite winter must-have,” shares Buthelezi-Ndaba. "Each piece not only keeps you warm but also makes a bold fashion statement."
At the heart of the collection is the monochrome bubble stitch cardigan, a favourite of the designer herself.
“One of my favourite statement pieces has to be our monochrome bubble stitch cardigan. You can dress it up or down, perfect for the office with your shirt and tie, or comfortably with your leggings and top. I have been wearing it this winter whether I’m running errands or attending important business meetings. It always works,” she enthuses.

This cardigan, along with other pieces in the collection, highlights the versatility and adaptability of Malondié’s designs, making them suitable for various occasions.
The collection also emphasises sustainability, aligning with House of Nala's values.
“We used sustainable wool for our production; the yarns are ethically sourced in South Africa. We used silk and cotton yarn for this collection to ensure sustainability,” explains Buthelezi-Ndaba. "This commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainable materials ensures that customers can feel good about their fashion choices."
The colour palette for the AW2024 collection is timeless and versatile, featuring neutral tones like monochrome and browns.

“It is more neutral and timeless. A girl can never go wrong with monochrome (black and white) and your browns. These colours are easy to match with what you already have in your closet. Remember in winter we wear a lot of layers, so it’s always a good idea to purchase neutral colours that can easily match,” says Buthelezi-Ndaba. This thoughtful approach to colour selection makes it easy for customers to integrate these pieces into their existing wardrobes.
For those looking to invest in timeless staples, the monochrome cardigan and the mini skirt sets are highly recommended by the designer.
Malondié Flair Knit Mini Skirt in Black and Brown
"My favourite has to be the monochrome cardigan and the Flair Mini Skirt sets (both monochrome and brown). The mini skirt idea is from my mother’s closet. She had this timeless set in cream and pink. I’ve always loved it and it made so much sense for me to create it for Malondié woman. It is beautiful and timeless,” reflects Buthelezi-Ndaba.

Inclusivity is another cornerstone of the Malondié brand, with designs that cater to all body types and offer comfort alterations.
“Malondié is known for fashion inclusivity. We are a brand that caters to all body types and offers clients the luxury of comfort alterations. We do this to ensure that all our Malondié women are happy and comfortable with their purchase,” Buthelezi-Ndaba states. "This dedication to inclusivity ensures that every woman can find something in the collection that flatters her figure and meets her style needs."
How To Look After Your Malondié Knitwear
To ensure that your Malondié knitwear remains in pristine condition, proper care is essential. Buthelezi-Ndaba advises: “Hand wash please! Knitwear shrinks when it is exposed to extreme heat and washing machines. Also only use a cool iron when needed. Heat is not good for knits. It can even shrink to baby size. Treat your garments just like how you want to be treated – with tender love and care – that’s how it can last forever.”
